Dyslexia Screening Test (DST) Ages 7 -12

This is not a diagnostic tool but rather an assessment that indicates if dyslexia could be present. The DST is a risk assessment for dyslexia.

Our test administrators consist of professional Educational Consultants, and Registered Teachers whose qualifications have been approved by ‘Pearsons Australia’ (not an Association), and accredited to administer the assessment.

The Dyslexia Association refers to Educational Consultants that meet these requirements.

An assessment with our consulting Educational Consultant will incur a fee and includes a report with recommendations for school, and home.

Service available in Melbourne, Rockingham WA and Sydney.

Educational Assessment/Diagnostic Assessment Ages 7 to Adult

This assessment is conducted by Health professionals which tends to be a Registered Psychologist usually with a background in education.

The Dyslexia Association refers to our consulting Psychologist backed by a team of Health Care professionals.

The difference between the two services is:

  • A DST is an at risk assessment, not a diagnosis, performed by an experienced teacher with a background in working with dyslexic students.

  • The Educational Assessment, is referred to our consulting Psychologist. It is a diagnostic test and, if criteria is met, leads to a diagnosis rather than a risk assessment.

An assessment through our consulting Psychologist will incur a fee and includes a report with recommendations for home and school.

Service available in Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle, Canberra, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Please note: The above is offered as a guide. It is not intended to be definitive. An Association can set criteria to meet for their acceptance into their Association. The Dyslexia Association criteria requires an Educational Consultant to meet the standards set by the independent authority in their area of expertise.
